Hotel Carolinenhof

Caroline Fliedner (1811-1892)

With the choice of the name „Hotel Carolinenhof Berlin“ we consciously express our origins and roots in the Kaiserswerther Association. Our patron, Caroline Fliedner, née Bertheau was not only the wife of Theodor Fliedner, founder of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie, but was also the director of the Diakonissenanstalt Kaiserswerth for 40 years. In her time Caroline Fliedner was an active, believing and modern woman who played a key role in shaping the Kaiserwerther Diakonie with her gifts and dedicated service. As a member of the executive board she was able to greatly influence the development of the whole movement.
2011 was the 200th birthday of Caroline Fliedner. To commemorate this remarkable woman and to honour her life’s work the hotel was, this year, officially named after her.
